What the Smile KC Foundation Is

The Smile KC Foundation is a nonprofit that sits very close to the heart of the Love To Smile team. Its vision is to give back by bringing free or low cost dental care and healthier smiles to neighbors across the Kansas City community who need it most, including underserved families and the local veterans who have given so much.

The idea grew out of something we see every day in our chairs. A toothache someone lived with far too long because care felt out of reach. A parent quietly putting their child's needs ahead of their own. The Foundation exists so that more of those stories end with relief and a real reason to smile. Why Love To Smile Is Affiliated

Dr. Esther Pedersen and our team have always believed that good dentistry is about people first. Our affiliation with the Smile KC Foundation is a natural extension of the way we already care for you, now reaching further into the community around us.

Being affiliated means the Foundation's mission is woven into who we are as a practice. It shapes how we think about access, kindness, and what it looks like to be a good neighbor in Overland Park, in Peculiar, and across the wider Kansas City area.

How We Support the Mission

We support the Foundation's work in the ways a dental team is uniquely able to help. That includes donated care for qualifying neighbors, so that a person facing a painful or urgent problem can be seen and treated with the same gentleness we give every patient.

It also includes our team rolling up their sleeves. Our dentists, hygienists, and front office family give their time as volunteers and take part in community events, because a mission like this is carried by real people showing up, not just by a name on a page. Care for Local Veterans and Families

Some of the neighbors closest to this mission are the veterans in our community and the families who are doing everything right but still find dental care hard to afford. The Foundation is focused on reaching exactly these people, the ones who so often go without.

Our hope is simple and human. That a veteran can walk in, be welcomed, and leave with less pain and more confidence. That a hardworking family can get the care they have been putting off, without shame and without a mountain of stress attached to it.
