Keys to YOUR Invisalign Success

The exact protocol our Invisalign patients follow for the straightest, healthiest smile. Not the generic version, our version.

Your Roadmap

The 9 keys to your best result

These are the exact keys we give every Love To Smile Invisalign patient. A few are different from the standard advice you will hear elsewhere, and that is on purpose. Follow them closely and your treatment stays right on track.

1

Wear your trays all the time. That means 24 hours a day, all day and all night, through eating and sleeping. The only time they come out is when you are cleaning your teeth or your trays.

2

Keep wearing your trays, even in the rare case that one cracks or breaks.

3

If you lose your current tray, it means it was not in your mouth. Put your previous tray back on and call us for the next step.

4

Bring all of your trays to every appointment, and never throw a tray away.

5

Any lost attachments can be replaced at your next visit if needed, unless we have told you otherwise.

6

Gum irritation is easily soothed with a little ortho wax. You can grab it from our recommended products.

7

Soreness is uncommon, but if you need it, ibuprofen usually does the trick. If you are not sure whether it is safe with your medical conditions or medications, check with your physician first.

8

Steer clear of foods made with yellow dyes, like turmeric, mustard, and mac and cheese, since they can stain your trays.

9

Need more clear aligner cleaning crystals? You can restock anytime through our recommended products.

Why Love To Smile

Why patients choose Love To Smile

Patients choose Love To Smile because experience truly shows in Invisalign results. Dr. Esther Pedersen is a Diamond Invisalign provider and a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, which means she has planned and finished more cases than the vast majority of dentists, and she reads how each smile is moving with a practiced eye. That experience translates into treatment that tends to be faster, smoother, and more predictable for you, with fewer surprises along the way and a friendly team that makes every visit feel easy. From your first consultation in Overland Park to the day you slip in your retainer, you are guided by people who genuinely care how your smile turns out.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

How many hours a day do I really have to wear my aligners?

Aim for 20 to 22 hours every day, taking them out only to eat and to clean your teeth. Your teeth move only while the trays are in, so consistent wear is the key to finishing on time. If you wear them less, treatment simply takes longer and can drift off the plan.

What happens if I forget to switch to my next tray on time?

A day or two off is usually fine, so just move to the next tray as soon as you remember and get back on schedule. If it has been longer, or if a new tray does not seem to fit well, give us a call so we can advise you. Staying close to your schedule keeps every tray handing off cleanly to the next.

Can I drink coffee, tea, or soda with my aligners in?

It is best to remove your aligners for anything other than plain water. Hot drinks can warp the plastic, and coffee, tea, and soda can stain your trays and hold sugar and acid against your teeth. Take the trays out, enjoy your drink, then rinse or brush before popping them back in.

Does Invisalign hurt when I start a new tray?

Many people feel gentle pressure or slight tenderness for a day or so when they begin a new set, which is a sign your teeth are moving as planned. Using your chewies helps the tray seat fully and often eases that feeling faster. If you ever have sharp or lasting discomfort, let us know so we can check it.

Do I have to wear a retainer after Invisalign, and for how long?

Yes, wearing a retainer is what keeps your new smile straight, because teeth naturally try to drift back over time. Dr. Pedersen will give you a personalized wear schedule, usually more often at first and then settling into a long term routine. Following it faithfully protects all the work you put into your treatment.

Why does choosing an experienced Invisalign provider matter?

A highly experienced provider can plan your case more precisely and spot small issues early, which often means treatment is faster and smoother with fewer setbacks. As a Diamond Invisalign provider, Dr. Pedersen has guided a large number of smiles from start to finish. That depth of experience is one of the biggest factors in getting a great result comfortably.
